Root Canal Boynton Beach

Root Canal Therapy is necessary when the nerve of a tooth has been adversely affected by decay, infection, trauma or several other less common conditions, often times causing significant pain and discomfort. The living tissue inside the tooth comprised of the pulp, nerves, bacteria and decay is removed using specialized instrumentation sequentially progressing through a series of steps. Once complete debridement and disinfection is adequate, the resulting space is then filled with several types of biocompatible dental materials. It is after this step that the tooth can then be restored to full form and function.

Having a Root Canal completed on a tooth is the necessary treatment to save a restorable tooth that would otherwise have to be removed. While many patients believe that removing the tooth in question is the solution, following through with extraction will ultimately be more costly to replace that particular tooth and may significantly affect positioning of adjacent teeth.

Root Canal Therapy is a highly successful procedure and when done well usually lasts a great deal of time. There is no better treatment in dentistry than to save a restorable natural tooth. Times do arise when the tooth will need to be retreated or removed as a result of new infection or manifestation of another condition. Root Canal Therapy usually requires 1 or more visits depending upon the condition of the tissue inside the tooth and whether or not medication or additional instrumentation would improve the prognosis of the tooth.

Following Root Canal Therapy, it is highly recommended that the tooth or teeth that were treated have a crown placed to protect the weakened tooth from breaking, cracking or fracture, thus restoring it to full form and function.

Following Root Canal Therapy, the tooth may still be sensitive or sore, but this will subside as inflammation diminishes and healing takes place.

You will receive care instructions at the conclusion of your treatment. Good oral hygiene practices, a proper diet and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your Root Canal Treated Tooth.
