Prevention

Preventing gum disease, cavities, bad breath, as well as many other oral conditions is the best way to treat them. Prevention saves patients pain, discomfort, embarrassment and extensive treatment that can become very costly. Having to restore a diseased dentition is significantly more expensive than maintaining the dentition with good oral hygiene habits and regular check-ups with your Dentist.

Check-ups for patients with good oral health are generally at least every 6 months, with some requiring more frequent intervals. Patients with gum disease generally require at least 3-4 maintenance visits per year. Regular check-ups are so important in the process because although you may not feel any pain, this does not mean there isn't a problem. In fact, once pain develops, gum disease, cavities and many other oral conditions require more involved and costly treatment that could have been avoided or minimized if caught early on. Checking and cleaning the mouth regularly with your Dentist and Hygienist can ensure that the infections are prevented or detected at earlier stages, meaning more inexpensive treatment and a much easier treatment plan.

In alignment with our strong belief, research is now proving a strong association between poor oral health and other chronic conditions such as Diabetes, Heart Disease, Pregnancy complications and Respiratory Disease. Most notably, avoiding or controlling Periodontal Disease can help reduce the chances of developing these serious illnesses.

Don't place your oral health low on the priority list until crisis or an emergency. Invest in your teeth now to maintain your oral health, beautiful smile and overall total body health and wellness. Your skilled Dentist and Hygienist are well versed in establishing and maintaining optimal oral health.

If you have any questions or concerns about how to establish and maintain optimal Oral Health, please don't hesitate to discuss them with your Dentist in the office or call Dental Arts of Boynton Beach at (561) 767-9595.
